The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and the DFINITY Foundation have announced a partnership to explore sovereign cloud infrastructure and decentralized artificial intelligence for public-sector projects. The work will support digital transformation across governments, civil society organizations and UNDP initiatives through three programs: the SDG Blockchain Accelerator, the Future of Work Academy and the Government Blockchain Academy. UNDP Country Offices will test sovereign cloud infrastructure, AI software development and decentralized AI applications for development projects, while civil society organizations will build and test their own applications and governments will develop pilot frameworks based on local and national priorities. The projects will use DFINITY’s Cloud Engines and Caffeine AI platform to help organizations build and maintain applications in secure, locally governed environments. The partners will also study whether the technologies can protect sensitive data, improve digital resilience and strengthen local technical capacity. The initiative builds on earlier UNDP and DFINITY work described as a one-year pilot involving five countries, as well as a similar system launched by DFINITY and Pakistan’s Digital Authority to keep national data within Pakistan’s borders. Separately, $ICP was down 0.88% at $2.39 at press time after falling from a weekly high of $2.70, with technical analysis identifying $2.35 as support, $2.50 as a potential retest level and $2.20 as downside risk.
