Land Minister Kim Yun-duk said housing considered for Yongsan Park would exclude the Children’s Garden and instead examine sites such as the Defense Acquisition Program Administration, officers’ quarters, and hospital and school grounds, subject to public discussion. Speaking on Aug. 27, he said rental versus sale tenure is undecided and that young adults, newlyweds, and multi-child families would be priority groups, while fairness concerns could push a lottery-style rental model. Kim added that homes to be announced as early as the end of next month—about 76,000 units—include none in Seoul, but successful talks with Mayor Oh Se-hoon could add 30,000 to 40,000 Seoul units and lift greater Seoul supply above 100,000, compared with the earlier 73,000 figure. The Land Ministry will start a detailed feasibility review of Seoul’s Tancheon Water Recycling Center proposal, though Kim cautioned that relocating such facilities is difficult.
