LG CNS deploys DTC cooling for Nvidia Vera Rubin GPUs exceeding 200kW per rack

LG CNS and Naver Cloud will deploy direct-to-chip (DTC) cooling, a liquid system that removes heat directly from GPU chips, at the Samsong Data Center in Goyang, Gyeonggi Province. LG CNS took over operations of the facility in April and signed a colocation agreement with Naver Cloud. The infrastructure is being built to support Naver Cloud’s operation of Nvidia’s next-generation Vera Rubin GPUs, owned by the National IT Industry Promotion Agency (NIPA) under South Korea’s Ministry of Science and ICT. Vera Rubin is expected to provide about 3.3 times the inference performance of the existing Blackwell Ultra and to push rack power density above 200 kilowatts, compared with roughly 20–30 kW supported by conventional air cooling. The deployment is LG CNS’s first liquid-cooling system in its data-center business and is viewed by industry observers as South Korea’s largest liquid-cooling application to date. The companies aim to complete construction and validation by next year. LG CNS plans to use the project to enter the growing data-center liquid-cooling market, which MarketsandMarkets projects will expand from $4.07 billion in 2026 to $27.65 billion by 2033. Naver Cloud will use its AI platform and large-scale GPU operating expertise to serve South Korean public institutions and enterprises. The 80-megawatt facility is owned by an asset management firm and operated by LG CNS, while Naver Cloud leases part of the space for servers and network equipment under an agreement running from last month through May 2035.
