Tomáš Jiříkovský, a programmer linked to darknet operations and money laundering, has indicated for the first time that he may cooperate with authorities in a major Czech crypto-laundering case. Prosecutor Lucie Šlamová said he changed his position after a custody hearing but did not provide detailed testimony. Judge Ivana Otrubová ordered him to remain in detention over flight-risk concerns and the possibility that he still controls part of the illicit cryptocurrency. Prosecutors allege that Jiříkovský operated darknet platforms and laundered large volumes of criminal proceeds, and are seeking up to 20 years in prison and asset confiscation. The case also centers on his controversial $44 million bitcoin donation to the Czech Ministry of Justice, including an offer of 30% of a seized cryptocurrency wallet in exchange for help unlocking it. Former Justice Minister Pavel Blažek accepted the donation while asserting the funds were legitimate, but the transaction later triggered allegations that it was intended to legitimize illicit proceeds, leading to Blažek's resignation and criminal charges against several high-ranking officials.
