4basebio PLC and Genezen have expanded a non-exclusive commercial collaboration combining 4basebio’s enzymatically produced, cell-free DNA with Genezen’s viral vector development and manufacturing expertise. The agreement provides drug developers access to Research Use Only, High-Quality and GMP-grade hpDNA for cell and gene therapy programs. In adeno-associated virus production, 4basebio says its hpDNA template has delivered comparable titers to plasmid DNA while using approximately 30% less DNA mass and transfection reagent, potentially reducing material needs and associated costs. The cell-free process also significantly shortens DNA production timelines compared with traditional plasmid manufacturing. The companies said the arrangement is intended to help developers progress from sequence design to viral vector production, clinical development and commercial manufacturing.
