Samsung Electronics and LG Electronics unveiled next-generation gaming products on the same day, targeting a global gaming hardware market projected to grow from approximately $46 billion this year to more than $80 billion by 2030. Samsung presented its Portable SSD P-series at Gamescom 2026 in Cologne, Germany, on the 26th local time, while LG Electronics launched the LG UltraGear 25G590B in South Korea. Samsung's flagship P9 offers sequential read speeds of 4,000 MB/s and sequential write speeds of 3,800 MB/s, more than twice the performance of the previous-generation T-series, and the P-series is designed for professional and everyday storage across computers, smartphones, consoles and cameras. Existing product plans include P9 and P7 models in 1TB, 2TB, 4TB and 8TB capacities, with global launches beginning in September. LG's monitor is described as the world's first to natively support a 1000Hz refresh rate at full FHD resolution, or 1920×1080, combining rapid image updates with an IPS panel, Motion Blur Reduction Pro, AI display customization and virtual spatial audio. The monitor is priced at 1.49 million won, approximately $1,100. The global gaming hardware market is growing at around 8% annually, while IDC expects the gaming monitor market to expand at a 6.4% compound annual rate through 2030.
