Alibaba Group has completed an HK$80 billion new share placement, issuing 710 million new ordinary shares to non-U.S. persons outside the United States at HK$112.70 each. The net proceeds will be used entirely to strengthen the company’s global AI infrastructure. About 60%, or HK$47.871 billion, will expand global computing infrastructure, while about 40%, or HK$31.914 billion, will accelerate construction of hyperscale AI data centers. The funds will also upgrade storage, databases and high-performance networks across Alibaba’s traditional cloud infrastructure as the company moves toward an agent-based cloud architecture. The shares were offered outside the United States under Regulation S and were not registered under the U.S. Securities Act of 1933.
