IBM has completed its acquisition of HRL Laboratories, LLC, a research and development organization specializing in quantum computing, quantum sensing, advanced communications, electronics, manufacturing and materials science. The transaction expands IBM's innovation and investment in quantum manufacturing and infrastructure, and could create opportunities for HRL to work with Anderon, IBM's pure-play quantum wafer foundry, on scalable manufacturing methods. Boeing and General Motors, HRL's former owners, will continue working with IBM and HRL on quantum applications and advanced technology development. Financial terms were not disclosed.
