US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent announced Office of Foreign Assets Control sanctions against Italy-based Autistici/Inventati, UK-based Palestine Action, transnational group Masar Badil, and Masar Badil leaders Zaid Abdulnasser and Rawa Alsagheer, tying them to far-left extremist networks. In an August 26, 2026 statement, Bessent called political violence a form of political terrorism and said Treasury would use the full weight of its economic tools to sever the groups’ funding until they are eliminated. OFAC acted under Executive Order 13224, blocking US-linked property and generally barring US persons from transactions with the designated parties, who were added to the Specially Designated Nationals and Blocked Persons List. Treasury said Autistici/Inventati supplies digital infrastructure and encrypted communications to Antifa cells and other violent far-left groups, and described Masar Badil as a front linked to the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine. The move follows the UK’s 2025 proscription of Palestine Action, July US designations of Antifa-linked foreign terrorist organizations, and a 2026 US Counterterrorism Strategy that lists violent far-left groups among major terrorist threats.
