The Smarter Web Company said Jesse Myers, its Head of Bitcoin Strategy, will leave on Sept. 1. The company gave no reason, named no successor and did not explain how his implementation, data, analytics or investor-relations responsibilities will be reassigned. Myers held an operational role covering execution of the Bitcoin treasury strategy, capital-allocation analysis, efforts to improve Bitcoin held per share, investor materials and performance tracking. The company said its Bitcoin Treasury Policy will remain unchanged, with the board retaining direct authority over management, strategy and risk decisions. As of Aug. 3, Smarter Web held 2,712 BTC after £224.8 million in net purchases at an average price of £82,886 per coin. It also had £18.5 million drawn from a Coinbase credit facility, equivalent to about 17% leverage, at a 6% variable interest rate and secured by its Bitcoin holdings. The company uses institutional custody providers rather than holding the Bitcoin directly. On July 23, it sold 177.8909127 BTC to repay $11.7 million linked to Smarter Convert, canceling 7,718,551 potential shares. Its shares fell 5.8% to 33.20 pence on Aug. 25 shortly after the departure notice, although no causal link was established. CEO Andrew Webley thanked Myers and said the company remained focused on executing its strategy. Investors are likely to watch for the appointment of a successor and details on the redistribution of Myers’ duties.
