New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani has launched a 15-member Business Advisory Council to improve City Hall’s relationship with the business community and advise on economic policy. The quarterly panel includes executives from finance, real estate, health care, technology, sports and retail, including Chobani founder and CEO Hamdi Ulukaya, Etsy CEO Kruti Patel Goyal, RXR chairman and CEO Scott Rechler and New York Liberty CEO Keia Clarke. Current executives from JPMorgan Chase, Citigroup, American Express, BlackRock, Meta and Alphabet are absent, highlighting continued tensions over Mamdani’s affordability agenda, which includes freezing rents for stabilized apartments, making city buses free and raising taxes on corporations and wealthy New Yorkers. The council will meet with Mamdani and Deputy Mayor for Economic Justice Julie Su to discuss industries, infrastructure, the city’s talent pipeline and its regulatory environment.
