Instinct has completed a $250 million Series B round co-led by Index Ventures and Benchmark, lifting total funding to $350 million and the company’s valuation to $2.5 billion, the Wall Street Journal confirmed Wednesday. Founded in 2024 by 23-year-old Noah Shinn and offered by Spear Street Technology, the AI assistant connects to users' apps and devices and works through text and voice to handle itinerary planning, shopping, booking activities and subscription cancellations. The product remains in closed beta, where early users have planned cross-country road trips, bought groceries and concert tickets, canceled subscriptions and organized a wedding. Broad permission requests and privacy terms have drawn controversy, with some users describing them as potentially invasive, and Instinct has not yet responded, underscoring the tension between convenience and data security in consumer AI.
