LG Electronics and Korea Electric Power Corp. (KEPCO) have signed a memorandum of understanding to pilot a Smart Appliance Cashback program that rewards customers for using connected appliances during designated low-demand hours. The pilot covers weekends and holidays from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. in March-May and September-October, when solar and other renewable generation accounts for a larger share of output. Customers receive 100 won per kilowatt-hour consumed, with up to 300 won per hour automatically deducted from electricity bills through KEPCO's Energy Cashback service. Eligible LG ThinQ-connected products include washing machines, dryers, dishwashers, Styler clothing care units, WashTowers and WashCombos. The initiative is intended to shift electricity consumption, support power-supply stability and promote more efficient energy use.
