Hyundai Glovis (086280.KS) is expanding its air forwarding business, which arranges end-to-end air cargo transport, with contracts to ship APR (278470.KS) cosmetics to Los Angeles, London and Amsterdam and SM Entertainment albums to destinations including Chicago. In the first half of this year, the contracts covered hundreds of tons of cargo. Hyundai Glovis manages packaging, customs clearance, airline allocation, loading and local delivery, while coordinating routes and flights with airlines. Air freight provides faster delivery and tighter control of conditions such as temperature and humidity. The company has developed product-specific systems, including leak-proof and shock-resistant packaging, safety containers and destination-compliant customs procedures for cosmetics, as well as security and anti-stacking measures for albums. Korea Customs Service data showed South Korean cosmetics exports to 58 European countries reached ₩2.31 trillion (approximately $1.7 billion) in the first half of this year, nearly doubling in two years. K-pop album exports rose 125% year-on-year to a record ₩382.3 billion (approximately $277.6 million), with the United States accounting for ₩110.1 billion (approximately $79.9 million). Hyundai Glovis has also transported works by British contemporary artist Damien Hirst to London and plans to expand beyond consumer goods as global e-commerce grows. Its ₩200.6 billion (approximately $145 million) investment in 2024 in a fund set up for Air Zeta, formerly Air Incheon, helped support the acquisition of Asiana Airlines' cargo business. The company plans to strengthen its air logistics infrastructure at the Incheon International Logistics Center and target more K-culture-related beauty and content cargo, along with other high-value consumer goods.
