Australian household spending increased for a third consecutive month in July, rising 1.1% to A$82.34 billion ($59.13 billion), well above market expectations for a 0.4% increase. The Australian Bureau of Statistics said June's gain was revised up to 1.0%, while annual spending growth accelerated to 7.0% from 6.1%, the fastest pace since June 2023. Spending rose across every component and in all states and territories, indicating resilient consumer demand despite higher borrowing costs.
