Shinhan Bank said its Shinhan Savings 9-Dan product sold 100,000 accounts within about two weeks of launching on the 14th, using half of its 200,000-account sales limit. The one-year flexible-deposit savings product offers a 3.0% base annual rate and up to 6.0 percentage points in preferential rates, taking the maximum yield to 9.0%. Customers who held no Shinhan Bank deposit, savings or housing subscription savings product during the six months before enrollment can receive 5.0 percentage points, while customers meeting Shinhan Card credit or debit spending requirements for at least three months can receive an additional 2.0 percentage points. First-time Shinhan Bank savings customers who sign up by August 31 with monthly deposits of ₩300,000 can qualify for the full preferential rate. Each individual may open one account, with monthly deposits of up to ₩300,000 at the customer’s discretion. Shinhan Bank plans to sell the remaining 100,000 accounts through September 30 at branches nationwide and via the Shinhan SuperSOL app. The product’s appeal reflects its maximum yield compared with commercial bank time-deposit rates of 2–3%, although the eligibility and card-spending conditions may limit the number of customers who receive the full 9.0%.
