South Korea will commit ₩6.7 trillion (approximately $4.9 billion) in fiscal resources by 2030 to develop physical AI and humanoid industries. The strategy includes ₩2.3 trillion (approximately $1.7 billion) for the humanoid ecosystem, ₩2.8 trillion (approximately $2.0 billion) for physical AI demonstrations and ₩1.6 trillion (approximately $1.2 billion) for innovative companies in new growth sectors. Including private investment, the humanoid program is expected to reach ₩2.7 trillion, while physical AI demonstrations could total about ₩4 trillion with private and local government funding. The government will establish mass-production systems for humanoids serving 10 industries, raise the share of locally made core components from 45% to 80%, develop AI chips, actuators, robotic hands, sensors, batteries and operating systems, and create early demand by purchasing 250 domestically produced humanoids next year and 1,080 by 2030. More than 500 physical AI demonstration sites will be established next year across eight fields, including manufacturing, agriculture, care services and defense. The government will also select 300 companies annually in four growth sectors, with next year's support totaling ₩238.8 billion, while consolidating 671 small and medium-sized enterprise programs to redirect about ₩4 trillion toward higher-performing initiatives and new industries.
