Former Malaysian Prime Minister Ismail Sabri Yaakob has been charged with failing to declare assets to Malaysia’s anti-corruption agency. Existing case details said bail was set at 300,000 ringgit ($74,504). If convicted, Ismail faces up to five years in prison and a fine of up to 100,000 ringgit, about $25,000. He served as Malaysia’s ninth prime minister from August 2021 to October 2022 and is the third former prime minister in recent years to face prosecution over alleged corruption-related activities.
