Address-poisoning attacks on the Tron network drained about $9.4 million from 15 victims over four weeks, with the two largest losses reaching $2.5 million each. On-chain investigator Specter flagged the losses on Aug. 27, saying the stolen balances were swapped into USDD and funneled to a consolidation wallet. The scam uses dust transactions from fake addresses that resemble previously used recipients, exploiting users who copy addresses from transaction histories. MetaMask and Trust Wallet have introduced protections mainly for EVM-compatible networks, but comparable coverage is not yet available on Tron. Trust Wallet says it has detected more than 225 million poisoning attempts linked to over $500 million in confirmed losses. Users are advised to verify full addresses, use wallet address books and send test transactions before transferring large amounts.
