American Airlines Group Inc. will add seven international routes in 2027, expanding service from Philadelphia, New York, Charlotte and Chicago as it deploys more long-range aircraft. The new destinations include Porto, Reykjavik, Vienna, Amsterdam, Nice and Barcelona, while Chicago-Tokyo service will begin March 19. American will also add a fourth daily flight between New York and London Heathrow on March 28. Tickets for the new routes will go on sale Aug. 31, and all new summer 2027 routes will operate daily. The expansion reflects U.S. airlines' focus on international and premium travel, where demand has been more resilient than in the domestic market, and American's effort to compete with Delta Air Lines and United Airlines for corporate and leisure travelers.
