Rishi Sunak has updated his LinkedIn profile to reflect part-time senior advisory positions at Microsoft and Anthropic, roles first disclosed by the UK’s Advisory Committee on Business Appointments (ACOBA), the body overseeing post-government appointments, in October 2025. His Anthropic position carries estimated compensation of approximately £373,000 a year in shares for about 70 hours of work annually, more than double the roughly £167,000 salary of the UK Prime Minister. Sunak will donate compensation from both roles to The Richmond Project, the numeracy and social-mobility charity he founded with his wife, Akshata Murty. He remains MP for Richmond and Northallerton and is barred from UK policy work or lobbying for either company for two years after leaving office. The appointments follow Sunak’s focus on AI governance, including the UK’s AI Safety Summit at Bletchley Park in November 2023. Anthropic develops the Claude AI model and is backed by Amazon and Google, while Microsoft is the largest investor in OpenAI and has incorporated AI into products including Azure and Office 365. Microsoft announced a £2.5 billion investment in UK data infrastructure and workforce skills development during Sunak’s premiership. Reports have also linked him to an advisory relationship with Goldman Sachs.
