Google has agreed to a proposed £260 million ($353.21 million) settlement of a mass London lawsuit brought for app developers who sold applications on its Play Store in the United Kingdom. The claim, previously valued at just over £1 billion, alleged that Google abused its dominant position by restricting alternative app distribution and charging an unfair commission, usually 30%. Under the deal, £160 million would be available to eligible developers who sold an app on the Play Store between August 2018 and July 2026, while a further £100 million would cover the costs of bringing and funding the lawsuit. The settlement requires approval from London's Competition Appeal Tribunal (CAT, competition disputes tribunal), and Google has admitted no liability or wrongdoing.
