An anonymous hacker who leaked unreleased Grand Theft Auto VI footage over nine days promoted the Solana-based memecoin $CYBERLEEK by watermarking videos with the token and the message "higher market cap = more leeks." The token reached a market capitalization of roughly $25 million on Aug. 23 and later peaked at $0.0344. Hours before Rockstar Games’ official GTA 6 gameplay reveal, on-chain data indicated that the contract owner claimed about $146,000 in wrapped SOL and 15.4 million tokens in trading-volume-based creator fees, then sold the allocation for roughly $125,000 in SOL. The proceeds were split across four fresh wallets, with at least 91 SOL sent to KuCoin. Independent blockchain analysis cited by Dexerto estimated the total cash-out at more than $250,000, although the figure has not been confirmed by the leaker or any exchange. The token later traded near $0.0097, down about 46% in 24 hours, with a market capitalization of roughly $7 million, daily volume of $13 million to $18 million and about 730 million tokens circulating among roughly 68,000 to 78,000 wallets. Rockstar said the leaks were "heartbreaking for the team." Take-Two reportedly subpoenaed X, Microsoft and Discord to help identify the leaker, while on-chain investigators traced the funding trail to a KYC-verified KuCoin account. GTA 6, which has been in development for more than a decade and is scheduled for release at the end of this year, is expected to be one of the largest entertainment launches in history; Take-Two has guided to $8 billion to $8.2 billion in fiscal 2027 net bookings, and analysts have projected as many as 45 million launch-window sales, compared with roughly 230 million lifetime units sold by GTA V.
