Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang became the world’s seventh-richest person on Thursday after the company’s shares rallied following a blowout earnings report that appeared to ease broader concerns about demand for emerging artificial-intelligence technology. Forbes valuation data showed Huang’s net worth rising $14.5 billion to $195.7 billion, moving him ahead of Oracle’s Larry Ellison, whose fortune increased $172 million to $191.4 billion. Nvidia’s market valuation added more than $400 billion, climbing from $5.07 trillion to $5.49 trillion. The AI bellwether remains the world’s most valuable firm, ahead of Apple at $4.59 trillion and Alphabet at $4.14 trillion; Apple briefly overtook Nvidia for the top spot last month. Nvidia has also agreed to buy Hugging Face, an open-weight AI model hosting platform, for $12.9 billion, The Information reported, citing unnamed sources. The deal would more than double Hugging Face’s previous $4.5 billion valuation from an August 2023 funding round in which Nvidia invested $235 million.
