Kraken overhauls Prime into self-service institutional interface

  • Kraken overhauled Prime into a self-service interface for institutional clients.
  • Prime now supports multi-venue execution, net settlement and four order types.
  • Kraken launched Prime in June 2025 with trading, custody, lending and financing services.

Kraken has overhauled Prime from an API access platform into a broader self-service interface for institutional clients. The updated platform combines multi-venue liquidity, programmatic pricing, desk-managed execution and post-trade net settlement within a single regulated relationship. Clients can trade against a credit limit, settle net at the end of a cycle, create batches, monitor exposure, confirm settlements and export PDF or CSV reports without contacting the desk. Prime now supports limit orders, market orders, spot RFQs and TWAP orders, while a unified activity blotter records trades placed through the interface, API or desk. Institutions can assign trading or view-only permissions, manage API keys and revoke credentials. Kraken launched Prime in June 2025 as an institutional service combining trading, custody, lending and financing, and said it provided access to liquidity from more than 20 global venues covering over 90% of the digital asset market. OTC services, including spot trading, derivatives and lending, are offered by Payward Oceanic Ltd., a member of the Kraken Group, for eligible clients and may not be available in all jurisdictions.
