The Miami Heat signed veteran center Nick Richards on Thursday without disclosing contract terms; ESPN reported the deal covers one season. Richards, 28, played 48 games for the Phoenix Suns and Chicago Bulls last season, averaging 5.8 points, 5.1 rebounds and 14.6 minutes while shooting 51.2% from the field. Miami had announced the signing of five-time All-Star guard Klay Thompson on Sunday and acquired two-time league MVP and 10-time All-Star Giannis Antetokounmpo from the Milwaukee Bucks in a July trade. Richards has career averages of 7.1 points, 5.8 rebounds and 17.6 minutes per game, with a 62.1% field-goal percentage. The New Orleans Pelicans selected him in the second round of the 2020 NBA Draft and traded him to the Charlotte Hornets the next day.
