Samsung Biologics is raising about KRW 3.0000009 trillion ($2.2 billion) through a rights offering of 2.27 million new shares, equal to 4.904% of shares outstanding, at KRW 1.322 million each after a 15% discount. About KRW 2.7062 trillion will fund the acquisition of Swiss peptide CDMO PolyPeptide Group, agreed in July at 1.46 billion Swiss francs, while KRW 294.8 billion will expand the Second Bio Campus in Songdo, Incheon. The board approved the shareholder-priority deal the same day, with an Oct. 6 record date, Nov. 9-10 subscription for existing holders, a 20% employee allocation and Nov. 30 listing. On the Korea Exchange the stock was at KRW 1.527 million as of 10:11 a.m. on the 28th, down 4.20%, after steeper early losses on dilution concerns.
