Spot gold broke above $4,600 per ounce on Aug. 28, reaching $4,600.17 while down 0.03%, according to Bybit market data cited by PANews. Separately, Gate data showed gold down 0.01% at $4,602.51 per ounce and silver up 2.69% at $70.773. In a later update, Gate said the DXY dollar index fell 20 points to an intraday low of 99.06 before recovering to 99.28, while New York silver futures rose 4.05% to above $72 per ounce. The moves followed an initial change of minus 79,000 in the U.S. 2026 nonfarm employment benchmark, versus expectations for an increase of 183,000. Gate data also showed the dollar strengthening against the offshore yuan and yen, European equity indexes rising and oil prices falling.
