The Financial Supervisory Service (FSS) and Korea Development Bank (KDB) will launch dedicated centers on the 1st of next month to resolve project financing (PF) and construction-company funding bottlenecks, supporting the government’s housing-supply drive. The decision followed a kickoff meeting on the 28th organized by the Financial Services Commission (FSC) and the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport, attended by regulators, public financial institutions, major banks, securities firms and construction representatives. The government plans to swiftly implement 11 of 20 tasks that can proceed within this month, while accelerating legal and institutional follow-up measures. The FSS center will coordinate PF cases and referrals involving Korea Housing Finance Corporation, KAMCO and financial associations, while KDB will collect financing problems from the top 100 housing-related construction companies and route them to the relevant lenders. The government is also expanding the conversion of stalled or at-risk PF sites into Korea Land and Housing Corporation purchase-lease housing, with a focus on urban locations suitable for young adults and newlyweds.
