Seven commodity vessels transited the Strait of Hormuz on Thursday, down from 17 the previous day and below the 10-day average of 15, preliminary data from shiptracker Kpler showed on Friday. The vessels included two medium-range tankers, one very large gas carrier (VLGC), one Ultramax vessel, one intermediate tanker and two chemical tankers. Four vessels were exiting the strait, while three were entering. The figures may change because ships sometimes switch off their transponders during voyages. Mediators in the Iran war renewed efforts to reopen the waterway, with Tehran agreeing to prepare conditions for restoring normal traffic after a Qatari emissary urged Iran to respect freedom of navigation. Iran and Oman were also working on details of an agreement, after Iran's Revolutionary Guards said the countries had agreed how to share control of the strait and its revenues. Separately, 17 commodity vessels transited the Bab el-Mandeb, with six entering and 11 exiting.
