The dollar was around 159.40 yen, nearly unchanged from the previous day. Advantest, Recruit Holdings and Taiyo Yuden were among the strongest positive contributors, while Kioxia, Fast Retailing and Fujikura weighed on the index. The rebound followed a modest decline on the 27th, but a yen that did not weaken decisively limited export-related gains. Prime Market volume reached 966.49 million shares and trading value was ¥3.8477 trillion as of 12:45 p.m. Investors remain focused on semiconductor market conditions, currency movements and profit-taking risks in the upper 66,000 range.
