Seven long-dormant Bitcoin wallets resumed activity in August 2026 and transferred a combined 563.59 BTC, including 553.59 BTC moved between Aug. 16 and Aug. 26 and 10 BTC transferred on Aug. 29 after more than 15 years. The reported holdings were worth about $40.93 million in aggregate at the cited valuations, including 212 BTC untouched since August 2012, 40 BTC sent to German custody provider Boerse Stuttgart Digital and 10 BTC valued at approximately $777,000. Five of the first six wallets and the newer 10 BTC address sent funds to wallets without identified exchange links, so the transactions could reflect custody changes, wallet migration, consolidation, security measures or institutional transfers rather than liquidation. Galaxy Research called the six-wallet movement exceptional and said broader transfers of Bitcoin dormant for at least one year fell in the second quarter of 2026 to their lowest level since the third quarter of 2022, while dormant-coin transfers for all of 2026 could total less than half of 2025's volume.
