Lithium producers in Argentina’s Salta Province are competing for skilled workers as downstream plants processing Andean salt-lake resources expand. POSCO Argentina’s vocational program graduated eight students after a 100-hour course covering practical skills including welding, piping, machinery maintenance and concrete installation. The company plans four to six sessions a year, training about 50 technicians annually, with certificates accredited by Salta’s provincial education ministry and hiring preference for top graduates at POSCO Argentina and partner firms. POSCO Argentina also supported Salta students attending RoboCup 2026 and has 620 employees, including 560 local hires and 60 expatriates from South Korea. The company says it intends to deepen localization by developing Argentine engineering talent from bachelor’s through doctoral levels.
