Smart contract functions linked to BNPi, a booking application built on Pi Network, became visible in Pi Network testnet wallets on August 27, showing escrow releases ahead of the Protocol 27 Mainnet launch targeted for September 15, 2026. The functions server_auto_release and release_booking_escrow place booking funds in escrow and release them to hosts after guest check-in or under predefined dispute-resolution rules. One transaction released more than 52 Test-Pi, while another wallet display showed server_auto_release involving +56.25 Test-Pi at 13:00 on August 27, 2026. Pi Network’s PI token rose slightly to about $0.0917 on August 29, although daily trading volume declined 20% to $5.40 million. Protocol 27 is intended to expand smart contract capabilities, while social media posts also referenced upgrades to the Pi Wallet testnet’s decentralized exchange and automated market maker features. PI remained more than 96% below its February 2025 all-time high of $2.99 but about 30% above its July 2026 low of $0.07059. Projected monthly token unlocks extend into 2029, including a larger August release of 15,722 PI and smaller releases in July, September, October, November and December; some community members view the slower pace as potentially supportive because it could reduce new sell-side supply from mining rewards.
