The government will train and cultivate 300,000 young people by 2030 in artificial intelligence (AI), semiconductors and green transition (GX), while creating 200,000 new private- and public-sector jobs and fostering 100,000 young entrepreneurs. Next year, training capacity will increase by 80,000 people from this year, including 20,000 in AI and other advanced industries and 7,000 practical workers through vocational high schools and polytechnics. The K-New Deal Academy, in which major corporations and regional companies design and operate training for young job seekers, will expand from 10,000 trainees this year to 50,000 next year. A new Youth Playground platform will connect program graduates with companies and public institutions, with corporate mentoring and follow-up matching intended to address criticism that post-training support was insufficient. The government will also prioritize young workers at local SMEs through a separate Youth Future Savings Account track, raising the contribution matching rate from 12% to 25%. For young employees at non-capital-area SMEs, the two-year Youth Job Leap Incentive will rise from 7.2 million Korean won to 18 million Korean won, while the Youth Culture and Arts Pass will increase to 150,000 Korean won annually, compared with 100,000 Korean won for capital-area youth. Together, the measures are designed to provide an income supplement of up to approximately 1 million Korean won per month for two years and narrow the gap between an expected monthly salary of 3 million Korean won and typical pay of around 2.2 million Korean won.
