TRON’s mainnet committee Proposal 107 was approved by 25 votes and activated on August 28, bringing Ethereum’s Prague and Osaka compatibility features to the TRON Virtual Machine through the GreatVoyage-v4.8.2 upgrade. The changes reduce the software adjustments needed to adapt Ethereum applications for TRON, while adding direct access to historical block hashes, the CLZ instruction, and a secp256r1 precompiled contract that supports passkey verification. Passkeys allow users to authenticate with device-based security such as fingerprints, facial recognition or PINs, including systems such as Apple Secure Enclave and Android Keystore. The upgrade provides the underlying support, but wallet and application developers must still implement passkey functionality. It also lowers the energy cost of some MODEXP computations, although the savings will depend on how individual applications are compiled.
