Portugal’s retail sales growth accelerated to 3.0% year-on-year in July 2026, up from a revised 2.7% in June and marking the strongest pace in three months. The increase was broad-based, with food, beverages and tobacco sales rising 2.5% annually, compared with 1.3% in June. Non-food sales increased 3.3%, easing from 3.7% in June. Within non-food items, computers, telecom equipment, books and other products rose 1.4%, textiles, clothing, footwear and leather goods increased 4.5%, and household goods gained 8.2%. On a monthly basis, retail sales were unchanged in July after a downwardly revised 1.4% increase in June.
