OpenAI has hired Sandhya Devanathan, Meta’s India and Southeast Asia vice president, to lead consumer growth, enterprise adoption, partnerships, regulatory engagement and day-to-day operations across Southeast Asia and Australia. Based in Singapore, she will report to Kiran Mani, OpenAI’s Asia Pacific Managing Director, after more than 10 years at Meta. Her departure comes as Meta faces heightened attention from Indian officials over content moderation and online safety. OpenAI is also bringing in former Uber Technologies India and South Asia President Prabhjeet Singh as its India head next month. The appointments expand OpenAI’s regional commercial and policy leadership as it builds offices across Asia-Pacific. The company has also faced 13 executive departures in 2026, while reports suggest it may delay a public listing until 2027 after confidentially filing draft IPO paperwork with U.S. regulators.
