The U.S. dollar index DXY (a measure of the dollar against major currencies) fell 20 points to an intraday low of 99.06 before recovering to 99.28, according to Gate data. New York silver futures rose 4.05% on the day to above $72 per ounce. The moves followed data showing an initial change of minus 79,000 in the U.S. 2026 nonfarm employment benchmark, compared with market expectations for an increase of 183,000.
