Aston Villa has agreed a €55 million deal with Paris Saint-Germain for Ibrahim Mbaye, beating Chelsea to the 18-year-old winger after moving ahead with an offer of about €50 million. The transfer was agreed on August 28, and Mbaye is undergoing medical checks ahead of an expected long-term contract at Villa Park. The deal would rank among Villa’s biggest-ever transfers and represents a major addition to Unai Emery’s attacking options. Mbaye made his senior PSG debut in August 2024 and has since recorded 42 appearances, four goals and four assists. Primarily a right-sided winger, he can operate across the front line and represented Senegal at the 2026 World Cup. His limited route to regular first-team football at PSG appears to have contributed to the club’s willingness to sell. Villa have also reached an agreement to sign Nicolas Jackson from Chelsea, adding to the sense of a significant overhaul of the team’s attack. The relationship between Villa chairman Nassef Sawiris and PSG president Nasser Al-Khelaifi appears to have helped the negotiations progress quickly.
