California Attorney General Rob Bonta sued the Trump administration and Golden State Wind over a $120 million agreement that canceled a planned 2-gigawatt floating offshore wind project near Morro Bay. The state is asking a court to reverse the agreement and reinstate the project, alleging that the Department of the Interior unlawfully used taxpayer funds to reimburse the developer for relinquishing a lease purchased in a 2022 federal auction while requiring investment in fossil-fuel projects. California says the cancellation threatens thousands of jobs and more than $100 million in related state investments as it pursues a goal of developing 25 gigawatts of offshore wind capacity by 2045.
