Customers ordered more than $2.6 million worth of Microduck robots during the product’s first 24 hours on sale, Hugging Face cofounder Thomas Wolf said Friday on X. The nearly 10-inch-tall, $399 robot was unveiled Thursday by Pollen Robotics, the French company acquired by Hugging Face last year, and is programmable with a camera, lidar (laser-based distance sensing), two motion sensors, an open-source SDK and training tools. Separately, the Robinhood ecosystem meme coin microduck reached a historical market capitalization above $20 million, gained 350% in 24 hours and recorded $10.8 million in transaction volume, according to GMGN data. The token’s narrative is tied to the open-source AI robot, which originated from the Open Duck Mini community project and is being productized by Hugging Face. Meme coin prices can be highly volatile and sensitive to market sentiment and hot events, creating significant trading risks.
