Brazil created a net 58,568 formal jobs in July 2026, Labor Ministry data showed, well below the 112,000 openings expected by economists in a Reuters poll and down from 145,161 in June. The result reflected 2,262,888 hires and 2,204,320 layoffs. Services led job creation among the major sectors with 24,098 positions, followed by construction, agriculture and industry, while commerce lost 2,056 jobs. Twenty-two of Brazil’s 27 states posted positive balances, led by São Paulo with 17,814 jobs. The stock of active formal employment contracts rose 0.12% from June to 48,082,866.
