Federal authorities arrested Daejon Love, 35, and alleged accomplice Taylor Jamie Chan, 18, on Aug. 24 in Boise, Idaho, accusing them of posing as a San Francisco 49ers player and defrauding 26 women of about $1.3 million. The pair faces conspiracy to commit wire fraud and wire fraud charges, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office in the District of Oregon. Authorities say Love used fictitious personas on dating apps, supported his claims with social-media photos showing official team gear and luxury vehicles, and promoted nonexistent investment opportunities. Love allegedly presented Chan as his investment adviser and persuaded victims that they were building wealth and a future together. None of the interviewed victims reported receiving investment returns or repayment of loans. The FBI believes there may be many more victims, while the defendants remain in federal custody in Boise.
