Chinese chipmaker ChangXin Memory Technologies, or CXMT, has sued the U.S. Department of Defense (U.S. military department) in federal court, seeking removal from a blacklist. The company says its chips are designed for civilian and commercial applications rather than military use and that it was listed in error. U.S. Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth is named as a defendant. CXMT said its reputation and commercial interests have suffered since it was first placed on the list in January 2025, and that the lawsuit is intended to protect its business. The U.S. Department of Defense said it does not comment on unresolved or ongoing litigation under its policy, Reuters reported.
