Deribit will remove its public Proof of Reserves page on Sept. 1 as it overhauls wallet infrastructure during its integration with Coinbase, which acquired the derivatives platform in August 2025. The change will end customers’ daily ability to verify balance inclusion and compare aggregate liabilities with published wallet holdings. Deribit said roughly 90% of client assets have moved into Coinbase custody arrangements, while Greeks.live Research Institute’s Adam said spot liquidity had been consolidated on Coinbase and most reserve assets placed in its custody ahead of a planned Sept. 9 merger. The proposed integration would combine Coinbase’s spot market, users and institutional network with Deribit’s options, perpetuals, futures and derivatives infrastructure, potentially using a new-generation matching engine. Deribit’s regulatory reserve, reconciliation and audit obligations remain, but it has not promised a replacement public dashboard or continued client-level Merkle verification. Removing the page is not evidence of a reserve shortfall, but reduces the public, daily and directly verifiable information customers can test themselves.
