Samsung C&T’s construction division has been selected to remodel the Hangang Samsung Apartment complex in Seoul’s Mapo District under a contract worth approximately 281 billion won ($204.9 million). The Mapo Hangang Samsung Apartment Remodeling Housing Association approved the company at a general meeting on the 29th, and Samsung C&T announced the selection on the 30th. The property at 11 Tojeong-ro 32-gil was completed in 1997 with three buildings, 456 units and two basement levels to 28 above-ground floors. The remodeled complex will comprise three buildings, including a newly constructed annex, with 482 units spanning six basement levels to 29 above-ground floors. Samsung C&T plans to rebrand the complex as Raemian La Ciel Han River, marking the first time it has remodeled a Samsung-branded apartment complex it originally built. The Han River-front development will feature a wave-inspired art facade, layered elevations, a two-floor sky lounge, a rooftop garden, wide living rooms and community facilities totaling about 1,762 pyeong, or approximately 3.7 pyeong per unit. It is within walking distance of Mapo Station on Subway Line 5 and has access to the Gangbyeon Expressway, with links to Yeouido, Gwanghwamun and Jongno. Kim Myung-seok, head of Samsung C&T’s Housing Product Marketing Division and an executive vice president, said the company would maximize the site’s direct Han River views and complete the project successfully for association members.
