ChangXin Memory Technologies has said it begun mass production of next-generation LPDDR6 low-power mobile DRAM and will supply Xiaomi’s 18 Fold foldable phone in September, calling the move the world’s first commercialization. Industry scrutiny has focused on a gap between promoted and device-level speeds, a prior-day disclosure that LPDDR6 remained in sample verification, and parallel mass-production plans at Samsung Electronics and SK Hynix. CXMT cited a peak transfer rate of 12,800 Mbps and up to 16 gigabytes of capacity, while the Xiaomi handset is described as running at 10,667 Mbps, the bottom of the JEDEC LPDDR6 range. Target initial shipments of 200,000–300,000 units would match the scale of CXMT’s earlier LPDDR5X ramp and remain small versus major smartphone volumes. Separately, CXMT reported first-half 2026 revenue of 150.31 billion yuan and net profit of 77.6 billion yuan after Korean rivals shifted capacity toward HBM, sued the U.S. Department of Defense over a military-links list, and continues factory expansion, while YMTC plans a 24.2% NAND wafer increase to 2.496 million in 2027 and a 33 billion yuan Shanghai listing. Chinese producers are gaining commodity scale but still trail in advanced process, yield and packaging.
