  • The ETF launched in February 2024 as Hong Kong’s first covered-call ETF.

Mirae Asset Global Investments has launched a tokenized share class for its Global X HSCEI Covered Call Active ETF in Hong Kong, marking its first direct tokenization and distribution of a fund it manages. The structure records existing fund shares as blockchain-based digital tokens, with each token corresponding one-to-one to one fund unit and retaining the same investor rights. The Hong Kong branch introduced the class on Aug. 27 with Citi and digital asset platform OSL. Citi supports custody, fund administration, investor registration and share transfers, while OSL provides access to institutional and individual investors through its Hong Kong Securities and Futures Commission-approved virtual asset platform. The ETF, launched in February 2024 as Hong Kong’s first covered-call ETF, invests in Hang Seng China Enterprises Index constituents and uses premiums from selling call options to help fund distributions.
