AstraZeneca reported positive high-level results from the Phase 3 SANOVO trial of Tagrisso combined with Orpathys in previously untreated patients with EGFR-mutated, locally advanced or metastatic non-small cell lung cancer with MET overexpression. The combination produced a statistically significant and clinically meaningful progression-free survival benefit versus Tagrisso monotherapy in both the high-MET and intention-to-treat populations, while overall-survival results showed encouraging clinical trends and remain subject to follow-up. AstraZeneca jointly develops Orpathys with HUTCHMED and retains sole commercialization rights. Separately, the European Union approved AstraZeneca and Daiichi Sankyo's Enhertu combination with pertuzumab as first-line treatment for adults with unresectable or metastatic HER2-positive breast cancer. The authorization followed a positive recommendation from the European Medicines Agency's medicinal committee and was supported by DESTINY-Breast09, which showed a 44% reduction in the risk of disease progression or death versus standard THP therapy and extended median progression-free survival to 40.7 months from 26.9 months.
